The control question
A connected call does not establish that the required recording is complete, archived or retrievable. Begin with the firm’s approved entities, channels and record categories, then define a bounded test.
The workflow
- Test: authorized synthetic calls with known audio on defined paths.
- Verify: retrieve expected recordings and inspect audio, metadata and archive linkage.
- Document: retain scope, timestamps, source IDs, results, limitations and exceptions.
Evidence that a reviewer can inspect
Organize evidence by pass, gap, inconclusive and not tested. Keep source links, reviewer notes, resolution and test scope together.
Important boundaries
Define each test by its path, configuration and time. Review retention and retrieval alongside recording quality, and keep exceptions visible.
Questions for a first evaluation
- Which entities, channels and exact recording paths are in scope?
- What authorized retrieval access and test windows are available?
- Which checks will be performed—and which remain out of scope?
- Who reviews exceptions and retains evidence of resolution?
